Annual Ticket / Smart Card Conditions
1. Conditions of Carriage
All tickets and Smart Cards remain the property of Iarnród Éireann/Dublin Bus/Bus Éireann and Luas and are subject to the company's conditions of carriage and Customer Charter.
2. Points To Note
- Keep Dublin Bus & Irish Rail Annual Ticket away from any magnetic clasps, i.e. wallets or handbags or mobile phones.
- Customers will only be issued one ticket/Smart Card to cover all portions of their journey
3. General Conditions
- Annual Tickets / Smart Cards are non transferable. Only the person named on the ticket/card may use it for travel. It cannot be resold or used by anyone else.
- Tickets / Smart Cards remain the property of Iarnród Éireann/Dublin Bus/Bus Éireann/Luas and must be presented at any time during the journey or at any time if requested by an authorised employee of Iarnród Éireann/Dublin Bus/Bus Éireann/Luas.
- Customers failing to produce their tickets or Smart Cards will be liable to pay the ordinary single fare for the journey made and subsequent claims for refund will not be entertained.
Lost or Stolen Annual Tickets / Smart Card
Loss or theft of your Annual ticket / Smart Card should be reported to us as soon as possible by contacting the Sales Department on 01-7034639 (Rail Tickets) , 01-7033021 (Dublin Bus Tickets) or 01-7033435 (Bus Éireann Tickets) . In addition, theft of your ticket should be reported to the Gardai. Lost or Stolen Annual tickets require a letter on headed paper from your company administrator stating the ticket has been lost or stolen. Iarnród Éireann/Dublin Bus/Bus Éireann will normally only issue one replacement Annual ticket in any twelve-month period and you will be charged the following replacement fees up to a maximum of €100.00.

Iarnród Éireann/Dublin Bus/Bus Éireann will refund any replacement fee less a standard administration charge once the original ticket / Smart Card is returned with a cover letter to the Sales Department, Connolly Station, Dublin 1 (Rail Tickets) , The Sales Office, Dublin Bus, 59 Upper O'Connell Street, Dublin 1 (Dublin Bus Tickets) or Regional Managers Office, Bus Éireann, Busáras, Store Street, Dublin 1 (Bus Éireann Tickets).
Cancelling Annual Tickets / Smart Cards
Iarnród Éireann/Dublin Bus
- Please note that Annual products are based on a 10 month rate, with two months free and this discount is withdrawn if the ticket is cancelled so the refund/credit is based on the regular monthly rate by the number of months used.
- Your Annual ticket/card must be returned to Iarnród Éireann/Dublin Bus from your employer by Registered Post or Courier no later that 5th of the month.
- If you cancel your DART/Commuter Rail, Dublin Bus Only, Short Hop Rail & Dublin Bus, Rail & Luas or Dublin Bus & Luas ticket/card before eight months have expired then you may be due a refund on your ticket.
- If you cancel your Point-Point Intercity ticket before ten months have expired then you may be due a refund.
- Annual Tickets purchased through the taxsaver Commuter Scheme normally have employer conditions that can vary from company to company. It is advisable to seek clarification with your company administrator before seeking a refund.
- There is no refund given to Replacement Annual Tickets that were lost, stolen or destroyed during the year.
- Refunds on Annual Tickets will be calculated as follows: The cost of the appropriate Monthly Ticket multiplied by the number of months used is deducted from the amount paid for the Annual Ticket. There is no administration fee involved.
Bus Éireann
- Please note that Annual tickets are based on a 11 month rate, with one month free and this discount is withdrawn if the ticket is cancelled so the refund/credit is based on the regular monthly rate by the number of months used.
- Your Annual Ticket must be returned to Bus Éireann from your employer by Registered Post or Courier no later that 5th of the month.
- If you cancel your Cork City, Subarban and Middletown Rail, or Cork City Surburban and Cobh Rail bus ticket before ten months have expired then you may be due a refund on your ticket.
- If you cancel your Point-Point bus ticket or Cork, Waterford, Limerick and Galway City bus ticket before elenen months have expired then you may be due a refund.
- Annual Tickets purchased through the taxsaver Commuter Scheme normally have employer conditions that can vary from company to company. It is advisable to seek clarification with your company administrator before seeking a refund.
